Carolina Health Transport: Driving change in community healthcare

Brenda no background

In the scenic town of Little River, South Carolina, Carolina Health Transport, LLC is making a significant difference in the lives of many. Led by CEO Brenda Bishop, the company has been providing transportation for the community since 2009.

A journey of 15 years

As they approach their 15th year in business, Carolina Health Transport has grown from a small venture into a comprehensive service with an impressive fleet of 13 vehicles. The company provides approximately 1,500 to 2,000 rides a month, equating to an astounding 18,000 to 24,000 rides a year.

Brenda and her husband, both previously in management roles, sought a career change that would allow them to contribute meaningfully to their community. Their quest led them to the non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) industry, which they identified as a sector ready for innovation and expansion.

Meeting a growing demand

The Myrtle Beach area, known for its appeal to retirees, was experiencing a surge in demand for reliable transportation services. Brenda recognized this need and saw an opportunity to provide a valuable service while filling a gap in the community.

For Brenda, it's not only about the numbers. Each ride represents a unique individual who relies on her company for safe, comfortable transportation to essential appointments. This deep-rooted care for the community fuels Brenda's commitment to her work.

More than just a ride

At Carolina Health Transport, the focus is on more than getting passengers from point A to B. It's about creating a positive experience for every individual that they serve. For some clients, these rides might be their only outings each month, so Brenda and her team strive to make these trips as enjoyable as possible.

Take, for instance, the story of a woman who loves Frank Sinatra. Upon discovering her love for Sinatra's music, the drivers now play his songs during her rides, adding a touch of joy to her day. Another example is the heated seats provided for dialysis patients, who often feel cold after their treatments, ensuring their ride home is warm and comfortable.

The heart of the community

These small gestures encapsulate the mission of Carolina Health Transport - a company that puts people first. The joy brought about by these efforts is something that, in Brenda's words, "you can't put a price tag on.” It's clear that Carolina Health Transport is more than just a business; it's an integral part of the community, providing not just a service, but also a lifeline for many.

As they continue their journey, one thing is certain: Carolina Health Transport will keep going the extra mile, literally and figuratively, for the people they serve.
