Modivcare partners with Alternatives for Girls to support Michigan families

Four people pose with donated diapers, baby wipes, and infant care supplies collected during a Modivcare community donation drive for Alternatives for Girls.

As a leading healthcare services company, Modivcare is focused on removing barriers to care for underserved and vulnerable populations through a combination of technology, community-based services, and a robust network of partners. This mission is closely aligned with our broader efforts across the healthcare ecosystem, addressing state-specific barriers to care and advancing the priorities of the Department of Health and Human services to help Americans live healthier lives.

That work comes to life every day in Michigan, where Modivcare supports approximately 580,000 members and coordinates over 1.1 million trips to medically necessary appointments each year. From routine doctor visits and behavioral health care to dialysis and hospital discharges, access to reliable transportation plays a critical role in enabling continuity of care and better health outcomes. In a state where access and continuity of care remain critical priorities, partnerships like this play an important role in supporting vulnerable populations.

Supporting our members extends beyond the services we provide and into the communities where we live and work. Recently, Modivcare’s Michigan team led a donation drive in support of Alternatives for Girls, providing essential items for women and babies in need.

Alternatives for Girls is a local nonprofit serving girls and young women experiencing homelessness and other risks by providing access to the resources and opportunities necessary to grow in a safe and supportive environment. As part of our partnership, Modivcare helps arrange safe, reliable transportation to and from medical appointments to ensure these individuals can access essential, routine care.

Modivcare team members contributed in various ways, donating supplies and funds to help purchase needed items. Collectively, the team came together to donate:

  • Over 3,000 diapers
  • More than 200 packs of baby wipes
  • 23 bottles of baby wash
  • 18 bottles of lotion
  • 11 bottles of baby oil
  • 10 containers of Vaseline
  • 42 baby bottles
  • 96 pouches of HappyBaby food

These contributions help address immediate needs that can impact health and stability, ensuring families have the support necessary to maintain hygiene, reduce stressors, and better engage with ongoing care.

“Partnerships like the one we have with Alternatives for Girls are critical to helping members in the communities we serve live healthier lives,” said Larry Smith, Midwest Regional Senior Director of Transportation. “Improving healthcare outcomes requires efforts that extend beyond the exam room, and into the everyday lives of those in the communities that we serve. Through continued work with trusted local organizations, Modivcare can bridge more access gaps within the community and connect members to care in a way that’s reliable, consistent, and truly supportive of their daily lives.”

Modivcare’s deep local market expertise, paired with a national network of more than 4,100 transportation resources, enables us to deliver services that are both scalable and targeted to community needs. In Michigan, this localized approach helps ensure members have access to the right type of transportation while maintaining regulatory compliance and service reliability, and ultimately, delivering a strong member experience.

This initiative reflects Modivcare’s continued investment in Michigan communities, strengthening local partnerships that support access, reliability, and better health outcomes. We remain committed to advancing this work across the state.
